The End!

Hi family!!  I can't believe I am coming home tommorrow!!  It doesn't seem real.  I'm excited to see you all though! This week was..... not so good.  I got really sick Monday night with the flu and then my companion started on Wednesday so we couldn't work all week.  It was not fun.  But the good news is.......................... Juan Caros and Mauricio got baptized and confirmed this weekend!!  It was a great end to the mission.  I am so grateful I got one more chance to see my investigators in white and to feel that joy.  It was awesome!!  Thank you family for all the love and support you have given me these past 18 months.  I couldn't have done it without you.  i have learned and grown so much.  I love being a missionary, I love this gospel, I love this country and I love these people.  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.  Wherefore I conclude this record, declaring that I have written according to the best of my knowledge, by saying that the time passed away llke as it were unto us a dream.  Now my brethren, we see that God is mindful of every people whatsoever land they may be in; yea, he numbereth his people, and his bowels of mercy are over all the earth.  Now this is my joy, and my great thanksgiving; yea, and I will give thanks unto my God forever.  Amen.

We Thank The Oh God for a Prophet!!

Hi family!  I hope you are all doing well! I can tell you are all getting excited!  haha I am excited to see you all too don't worry!  Conference was AMAZING!!!!!  I loved it!  We were so excited all week for it to come! And it came and went way too fast!  I love that we have prophets and apostles!!  I can't wait to get the Ensign!!!

Well..... Juan Carlos was supposed to get baptized this weekend but he didn't show up!  And then Saturday night we ran into him and he said he wanted to go to conference so we said we would meet at 10:00 to go together and he wasn't there so we called and he said he would meet us there and never came.  I am kind of frustrated with him.  I don't really know what to do now.  He says he wants to get baptized but isn't doing anything to make it happen so we are going to have a talk with him and then wait to see what he does to show that he really wants to do it.

Mauricio came to conference and liked it!!  He is going to have his baptism interview tonight!  He has a baptism date for this Saturday and we are excited for him!  He is really sweet and humble!  So keep him in your prayers please!

We really don't have a lot of progressing investigtors right now but we are working hard trying to get a program together so that Hna. Bailey will have something to work with.  I always tell her she is going to be training and I don't want her hija to be bored just contacting all day long because I didn't leave a program behind!  haha

I can't believe this is my last week in the mission!  It is so crazy how fast time goes by!  But I have loved every single minute and wouldn't change a thing!  Thank you for all of your love and support!  I couldn't have done this without you all!  I love you!!!  Have a great week!!!

To Be Continued..........

Hi family!  Well I don't have a lot of time today, we got our email time cut down to 30 minutes so it will be short... Shorter than normal!  haha Well this week was good!  We were getting all excited for Juan Carlos' baptism, we went by Saturday morning and everything was ready and he was excited! And then we went by to get him for the baptism and he wasn't home so we called and he said that he didn't feel like he was ready, that he wasn't sure and he wanted to wait until next week.  So I told him to come to the chapel and we would talk!  So he can and the district leader and a zone leader talked to him with us and we asked questions, shared scriptures, testimonies and experiences but he still wanted to wait until next week!  So this week he is going to be praying and reading and be ready to be baptized this Saturday!  Which is alright because if that is what will make him feel more comfortable and sure than that is what we are going to do!  So keep him in your prayers please!!  I love you all! Sorry I can't write more.  Have a good week!!!

2 More Weeks Until Conference!!!

Hi family!!!!
Can you believe it's almost conference again???  I can't!  We just had it!  I'm so excited!!  Conference is like Christmas in the mission!  haha So good news!!!!  Hna. Bailey's brother just got his mission call to Honduras San Pedro Sula!!!  We are so excited for him!!  This week has been good!  We have been studying and sharing with members Pres. Uchtdorf's talk "Forget Me Not" this week.  I love that talk!  It has helped me look for the little forget-me-not flowers in my life and not just wait for my ¨Golden Ticket¨ to get here.  So on Sundays we always go as a zone to visit all of our investigators and sing them a hymn and yesterday a lady in our ward, Luzmila, who lives alone asked us if we could do a FHE with her that afternoon.  We told her we could do it on Tuesday because we had appointments.  So then we get to the stake center and the elders tell us they have a Priesthood meeting and we weren't doing the zone visits!  We were so mad because it's Sunday afternoon, we have no appoinments and no one is ever home on Sundays!  So what the heck would we do?  So we called Luzmila and told her we could do the FHE if she still wanted to!  So we went and we were stilling there giving her the message about the forget-me-nots and I thought I shouldn't have had such a bad attitude about not going to do visits with the zone.  It was just a sweet moment to share with Luzmila who is all alone and doesn't have anyone to spend time with very often. I felt so grateful to share 20 minutes with her sharing a thought and feeling the Spirit and brightening her day!

So Juan Carlos came to church yesterday and is getting baptized this Saturday!!!!!  We are so excited for him!!  He has grown a lot!  We had an awesome lesson with him on Friday!  It has been so hard to get him to church because something was always coming up Sunday mornings.  So we taught him keeping the Sabbath Day holy and the Spirit was so strong working through us!  We were super bold and promised him specific blessings if he came to church and it was a really powerful lesson!  I loved it!!  The Spirit is always strongest when we are really bold and direct but with love of course!  I love being a missionary!!  How many times in your life can you say ¨as a representative of Jesus Christ I promise you...¨?  Not too often!  It is so cool!!  I memorized Our Missionary Commission this week in Spanish - next week in English - and it is so awesome!

I love it!!  It is so awesome to be a missionary!  I am going to miss it.  I know it is time to move on and start the next chapter.  But I will always remember this time, it will always be a part of me.  Thank you family for everything you have given to love and support me here on the mission!  It definately isn't easy but it is so worth it!!!  Love you all!  Have an amazing week and don't forget to recognize the little forget-me-nots along the way!!!

Cotopaxi!

Hi family!  How is everyone doing?  Things are going well, it doesn´t seem real to me that my mission is ending soon. But I feel so unprepared.     I don't feel like I am who I need to be yet, like I am the missionary I should be.  I have never felt so unperfect in my life.  I just feel so weird and I don't know how to handle all of this.  I'm excited to come home and see everyone and start my life but I don't want to stop being a missionary.  But don't worry I am fine!  I love you!!

We went to Cotopaxi today and I am so tired!!  But it was pretty!  I sent you pictures!  Well our week was good!  Tuesday my companion was sick so we were in the house all day!  It's tiring doing nothing all day long!  But she is doing good now!  We are getting along great!  She is helping me a lot dealing with all these mixed emotions I have!  I am kinda freaking out that my mission is coming to an end and I don't know how to deal with it.  But she is very supportive!

Well Juan Carlos didn't come to church today so his date fell.... We were really sad.  I don't know what happened because we went to visit him on Saturday and everything was all set but when we went by to get him for church he wasn't there and I called him but he left his cell phone at home.  We have an appointment with him today so we will see what happened.  We are going to have to be super direct with him because he needs to come to church! He is really excited for his baptism though so I'm not sure what the deal is..

Elena, we haven't been able to teach her all week.  She is never home for our appointments.  So I don't know what to do with her.

Liliana came to church with her husband's sister and cousin!  We taught them the Plan of Salvation but the husband still doesn't want to get married.  I don't know how to help him.  But Liliana is awesome and loves going to church!

We have another Liliana, Liliana Villagomez. I don't know how to help them get married either.  It's a huge paperwork process and she doesn't really want to get married either.  But we set a date with her daughter Zaida for the 24th!  She couldn't come to church though cause her mom was sick and she was taking care of her.

We taught Jose, that guy we found last week and it was an awesome lesson!  We talked about the Atonement and he really wants to change his life.  He has a lot of problems with his wife though.  They aren't married either and he isn't living with her right now.  I think she kicked him out because she doesn't trust him.  But she doesn't want to talk to us so it's kinda hard.  They have a girl and 4 little boys and he wants them all the get baptized but when we went by for them for church he wasn't there either.  But he accepted a date for the 31st!  So keep them all in your prayers please!!

Things are going well, it doesn´t seem real to me that my mission is ending soon. But I feel so unprepared. I don´t feel like I am who I need to be yet, like I am the missionary I should be. I have never felt so unperfect in my life. I just feel so weird and I don´t know how to handle all of this. Happy Birthday Mami!!!! I love you!!! Have the best day ever!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Mami!!!!! I love you! You are the best mami ever!!!!

Well this week has been really good!  Juan Carlos - We went to visit them with the zone leaders on Wednesday and it went really well!  They told us that we need to teach them the Plan of Salvation and so Friday we went and taught them and it was a good lesson!  They had a lot of questions but in they end they understood it all and really got them thinking!  I love the Plan of Salvation!  His mom still is being stubborn but his dad seemed a little more interested so we will see!  Juan Carlos didn't come to church though and we went by after and his mom wouldn't let us in because they are all sick and she said that we couldn't come back until the weekend.... I don't know.  So much opposition!!!  I don't like Satan!

Liliana - we went to visit her on Tuesday but her husband wasn't there so we made an appointment to visit them both Thursday night.  So we brought a newly married couple with us but they weren't home!  I was finally able to get a hold of her on Saturday and her aunt got sick and she has been taking care of her.  So she didn't come to church either.

Elena - We found a new lady this week, Elena.  She is awesome!  She accepted a date for the 24th and she asked us what to do if her husband and kids disown her for getting baptized so we talked with her a little bit and then she said I don't care if I end up alone I'm going to do it!!  haha It was awesome.  And then we invited her to church and she said she couldn't this week because she sells flowers and on Sunday a lot of clients come by.  But she started making plans with us of how she can arrange it that she can come to church every week!!  WOO!!

So the point is no one came to church this week but that's okay!  There is always next week!  This month is going to be a good one!  It is March of Miracles!!  And we are going to see a ton of miracles!  Even more than we are alreay seeing!

Well....... my trunky paper came... I started hyperventalating!  haha I'm in shock still.  It doesn't feel real that my misison is ending.  But I am leaving April 10th, Tusday morning at 6:40 and I have a layover in Miami  and my plane comes in at 6:25 p.m.  I know you are all jumping up and down right now but I am freaking out!!!!  I'm excited to see everyone and to be home but I don't want to leave the mission and I don't want to take my placa off! But that just gives me more reason to work even harder these last weeks of my mission.  I am going to finish the race sprinting!  haha  And when I am done I will be able to say I don't need or want to go back to the mision field because I gave it everything I had!!

I love you family!  Thank you for all of your love and support!  Thank you for helping me make this the best 18 months of my life!  You are the best!!!!!

NOOOO!!!!!

Hi family!  How are you all doing?  Congrats on finishing Ragnar!  Next year I want to do the phoenix Marathon with you Papi!!  That is one of my goals!  Woo!!  Well sad news... Changes came and Hermana Butterfield left.  I am with Hermana Bailey now.  is from Utah!  She is from the same group as Hermana Butterfield and Hermana Fogg so now I have been companions with all of them!  haha  Elder Albino left too.... He was one of my best friends!  I'm so sad!  It was so sad to see Elder Sanchez and Albino leave eachother.  Things won't be the same but oh well!  That's the mission!  I can't believe this is my last change!  I really can't believe it.  It hasn't settled into my mind yet and probably won't until the week before I go home.  But I still have a lot of time and am going to work super hard!!!

Well this week has been good!  I don't remember what I have told you and what I have not but Liliana came to church!  She is the neighbor of an investigator that we have and she has a date for the 17th!  She is really cute I love her.  Her husband doesn't want to get married though.  We have to work a miracle with him.  But it can be done!  The Duque family have been investigators forever because she has to get divorced to be able to get married and this week we went with her to sign the papers!!  Woo!  Now her ex has to sign and then we have to wait up to 3 months they said for the papers to get processed.  Ugh... But oh well!  I am praying that they go through faster! Juan Carlos finally accepted a date for the 17th!  But he wasn't able to come to church.  We are going to visit him tonight.

Well family I know this is short I'm sorry but my mind is spinning and I don't know what to write right now! haha I love you all and am so grateful to be a missionary and to be able to serve here in Ecuador! Have a great week!!

Happy Days!

Hi family!!
How are you all doing?  What did you do for President's Day? I  had no idea it was President's Day!  haha  It's Carnaval here... Basically a country-wide water fight!  I only got one water ballon thrown at me today!  It's not too big in Quito.  I hear it's worst in the coast!  But it looks like a lot of fun and I wish I could play!  Well, another week come and gone way too fast!  Time is FLYING!!!  I don't know where it is all going!  It is scaring me because I don't have that much time left!  And what is left is going to go by even faster!
We found a couple new people this week.  Jovanna and Lucia.  They both accepted baptismal dates!  We gave Jovanna a Book of Mormon and set up a return appointment and when we went back she handed me the book and said that she couldn't read it and she didn't want us to visit her anymore... I'm not sure what happened.  I think maybe her family talked to her but it was really sad.  Lucia has been busy, we haven't been able to visit her again and she couldn't come to church.
The Villagomez family, we haven't been able to see them too much either.  We were able to talk to her one night and she was crying because her and her husband have been fighting lately.  It was sad but we gave her some love and hope!  But they weren't able to come to church either.
The Aldaz family, we went to visit them on Friday and we found a few doubts that they have.  She is very Catholic and doesn't like that we don't worship Mary.  Juan Carlos thinks all religions lead you back to God and it doesn't matter which one you join.  So it looks like we are going to be teaching the Restoration over and over again until they get it!  Alison is still as cute as ever!  I still need to take a picture with her and send it to you!
As a zone we do something called a Bufaleada - we go sing to all of our investigators every Sunday and sometimes Wednesday if we need to.  Anyway yesterday we were coming home from the Bufadeada with the zone leaders and the district leaders and their companions and Elder Albino - one of the zone leaders - had been sad all day, well for a few weeks because of all the stress of the mission and being zone leader and he just broke down yesterday.  He was crying and started hyperventilating and zoned out so Elder Sànchez and I were trying to get him to come back to his senses but he wasn't so we sat him down and his muscles were all tense from the hyperventilation.  This is what happened to me is Santo Domingo when I had my little but not so little break down so I knew the symptoms and what to do!  So I got him to breathe normally with me and they were massaging his arms, hands and legs trying to get him to relax.  Elder Taquez gave him a blessing and he started calming down and after a while was able to get to the house!  I called the nurse afterwards and told her what happened and she said it's good to give them milk because the calcium helps!  One thing I didn't know!  So next time someone starts hyperventilating you all know what to do!  Have them breathe in a bag or cover their face while breathing and give them a glass of milk to drink!  Nursing 101!  haha It's experiences like these that I remember why I want to be a nurse!  Oh and Elder Albino is okay now!  He is feeling better today!
I love the mission!  Even though it is still so hard everyday!  I try not to stress myself out because I feel like we take 10 steps forward and 20 steps back every week and I feel like we are never going to lift our program.  3 months without a baptism.  Satan is working very hard on us and everyone in this zone.  Everyone is going through some personal problem!  But trials are to make us stronger!  I am so grateful for the Atonement and the Gospel in my life.  I don't know how I would live without it.  I love you family!!  Have the best week ever!!!

February Fun!

Hi family!!!  It sounds like life is just as busy as usual!  Things are going well here.  We are still working to try and build us a program.  We have a few people who look like they are going to progress well!  We have been contacting a lot and we have found a few old investigators..  I'm not sure if it is their time yet or not but I keep praying for them!  Sunday a member brought a reference to church, his name is Juan Carlos and he seems golden! I'm excited!  We have an appointment with him tomorrow and we are going to set a baptism date!  Keep him in your prayers please!  Another little miracle!  A lady in our ward came up to us after church and told us that she wants her son to be baptized!  She said her husband isn't a member and he doesn't want to let him but we are going to talk to him this week!  This month is going to be a successful one!  I just have to work hard and have faith!
Fun story!  So there is this crazy man who always rides his bike down the street and he doesn't like the missionaries so he always trys to scare us and the other night we were walking down the street and he rode by and spit in my face!  It was so nasty!  I didn't really know what to do because it surprized me!  So that was my fun experience for the week!  haha
Saturday we had a mini zone conference and it was awesome and just what I needed cause I had been feeling down lately about my sector and didn't know what to do!  But Elder Albino talked about having faith, hope and charity.  And without one we can't have the others.  And I was lacking in all three I think, so it really helped a lot. And Elder Sànchez talked about Pres. Monsons talk in the January Liahona Living the Abundant Life and the three things we need to do to have an abundant life.  A positive attitude, believing in yourself, and having courage. I love that talk! And Elder Sànchez related it to of course missionary work and it was really good! It helped me a lot.  I don't really understand why we have been having such a hard time but I know there is a reason and lessons I need to learn from this.  I love being a missionary.  I love the good times, the hard times, and the confusing times.  I have never felt Satan's opposition so real in my life but I also have never felt the Atonement so real in my life either and I am grateful for it all to be able to understand just a little bit more, the Saviors love. Thank you family for all that you do for me.  I am so grateful to have you.  I hope you all have a great week! xoxoxoxoXo

Just Keep Swimming!

Hi family!!!!  How is everyone doing?  I'm sorry you are all sick!  We were all sick about a month ago.  It's the worst being sick on the mission.  Luckies!!  I want to go to Toy Story on Ice!  I love it!!!  How cute I want to see James' baby!!  Good luck in London's Run!  I'm excited to do it next year!  Send me pictures please!

Well our families, our families... Yolanda was lost for a while and we found her again on Thursday, set a baptism date again and she was super excited. We had an appointment scheduled with her Friday and a tour of the chapel on Saturday but she wasn't there either day.  Ughh.  Then we went by Sunday morning and she was there but she said that she couldn't come to church because she had to make lunch for her sister who just got married because they were coming to visit.  I don't know what else to do except keep fasting and praying!

The Cadenas family are doing okay.  We went to visit them this week and they had a ton of doubts about the Book of Mormon because the first time they came to church was testimony meeting and everyone testified about the Book of Mormon and so they think that that's all that we believe in and he said he doesn't want to be confined to just one book.  So we explained that we believe in the Bible and other scriptures but he just didn't want to accept it.  We went back another day and talked to his wife and she said that she feels pressured.  Not from our visits but she couldn't tell us by what.  So I don't know.  It has been super hard for the whole zone right now getting investigators to progress.

Being in a trio it was a little easier sharing the responsibility but now I feel like it's all on me and it's super hard. But that's okay I am learning a lot and as always my faith and trust in the Lord is growing.  I have to rely wholey on Him.  I love being in the mission!!

This week we are going to do an invasion in a part of our sector that is about 40 minutes away!  Hopefully we can find some golden families!!  Keep us in your prayers please!!

I love you family!!  Thank you for all that you do for me!  I couldn't be here without you all!  Have a great week!!

The Best Days of My Life!

Hi Family!!

Sad news.  Changes are today and Hna. Umaña is leaving me.  I am so sad!  We became best friends in these past 6 weeks!  They always say that you are going to have one companion that is more special than all the others and I found her!  She always tells me she found her other half!  haha  We had so many good times together and memories that I will never forget.  I am so grateful to be in the mission and to have these unforgettable experiences.  It really is a once in a life-time opportunity!  (And I`m gonna share it with you!  haha Love ya K!)  These past 6 weeks have changed my life forever and I'm trying not to cry right now thinking about how much I loved it!  haha  I love being a missionary!!!  The mission isn't all about how many baptisms you have, it's the people you meet, the realtionships you form, the lives you change, the memories you make, the lessons you learn and the personal conversion that you gain.  We didn't have any baptisms together but I have been so blessed to have had this time with my zone and my companions.  My heart is full of joy and that is all that matters!

Well Hna. Umaña is leaving and now Hna. Butterfield and I are on our own!  We have a lot of work to continue! The Cadenas family couldn't come to church yesterday because she had something done at the dentist the day before and was still bleeding and the baby was up all night sick... But they invited us over for lunch after church! They are the best!  They still don't have a baptism date but we are praying and praying!  Keep them in your prayers too please!

Yolanda hasn't been home all week and we haven't been able to get a hold of her either.  I hope we can get in touch and keep her progressing!  She is an awesome lady and has a lot of potential but she needs a lot of support to get their!  We are going to have to do something to get the ward excited about missionary work!  Our zone leaders spoke in our sacrament meeting yesterday andi t was awesome!  They spoke about the gospel and the importance of sharing it!  I felt like a proud mom watching her little boys up there!  haha  I love that the zone becomes like your family!  I love them all like brothers!  haha

Saturday was crazy!  We started the morning doing a service project!  A family in our ward have been investigating for over a year now, our zone leader, Elder Albino was teaching them in Santo Domingo and now they live here in our area!  But the wife has to get divorced to get married to her husband she is with now and it's a huge process but I think she is finally going to be able to get divorced!  Anyway they moved so we helped them load everything in the truck and unpack!  Then the elders who share our ward had a baptism of a little girl who didn't get baptized with her family because she was scared of the water.  They called and said she didn't want to get baptized!  So we all went in our p-day clothes and we talked to her and calmed her down and got her to the chapel.  She got in the water, he said the prayer and she went down but didn't get covered all the way so he had to do it again and she started crying and didn't want to.  So we went to talk to her again to walk her through it and nothing was working. So our other zone leader, Elder Sanchez, got a picture of Christ with little kids and showed it to her and was talking to her and got her to calm down.  Then her mom who was also in the water with her said a prayer with her, picked her up like a baby and dunked her!  We were all praying so hard and it was so exciting!!  haha  Then afterwards there were other baptisms in another chapel so we went there, President and his wife came and it was amazing!  A lady who used to be a nun got baptized!! Woo!  She is so cute and always gives us all yogurt!  haha

Well family I love you all!  Thank your for all that you do for me!  I love this gospel and love being a missionary!!!! Have an amazing week!!!!

Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday Bubs and Chaylee!!!!!!  I can't believe it's your birthday again!  Time has flown by!!  What are you going to do for your birthdays? I  hope you have a great day!!!  I love you!!!!

This week has been great!!  We have been setting higher goals and we have been working hard to reach them and it is paying off!!! I love it!  We found 3 new families!!  The Farinango family, the Cadena family and Yolanda and her two boys.  I don't know her last name.. T he Farinango family, I'm not too sure they will progress but the Cadenas came to church on Sunday!!  They are the cutest couple ever!!  They aren't married, they have an adorable little girl with the chunkiest cheeks! She is 18 months old and so dang cute!  Anyway they are so cute, you can just see the love between them!  That is super rare to find between a couple who don't know the gospel.  But they have a ton of potential and I am so excited for them!  Keep them in your prayers please!!!

Yolanda is a special lady.  She was 5 weeks pregnant and lost the baby so she is having a really hard time right now.  We found her singing as a zone a few weeks ago but we were never able to find her again before this week. And it was perfect timing because this is when she needs us most!  She has been through a lot and needs a lot of love and support right now!  The elders have helped us a lot with giving her blessings and going to sing her a hymn to cheer her up!  Her two boys are great too!  They have been through a lot and are too young to be worrying about the things that they do.  It makes me grateful for you guys and for protecting us when we were little.  Little kids shouldn't have to worry about adult things.  It's sad to see.  And you see it a lot here.  So keep them in your prayers also!!  Please and thank you!!

An investigator taught us something I had never thought of before... We started talking about the commandment honor thy father and thy mother and she said it isn´t just talking about our parents here on earth. It is also talking about our Father in heaven. I had never thought about it that way. Or if I have I don´t remember but I loved that! I love learning from investigators!

I got the packages!! Thank you!!!! I loved all the pictures! Maddie´s party looked so cute and fun!! Of course way over the top! That´s my mom!! haha I have nothing to worry about for my wedding reception! haha And thank you K for the package!! Bridger is so stinkin cute! He looks like a Butler! haha and has the biggest blue eyes! Adorable! And you look gorgeous of course!!! What a cute little family!!

Well family, you are the best ever!!! I love you all and am so grateful for all that you do! I love the mission and don´t want to leave! haha But it just makes me enjoy every minute even more! Changes come on Sunday... I love Calderón and don´t want to leave but The Lord is in charge! I´ll go where He wants me to go!! Have a great week!!!
