Woo Hoo!!!

Well I will start with the most exciting news of the week... I got to
wash my hands in hot water today!!!!!!!!!!! It was so so amazing! But
the story behind it is kinds sad.. So I am companions with the mission
nurse and there is an Elder who has been sick for the past week and
yesterday he got super bad so he got brought into Quito to one of the
hospitals and it turns our he has Appendicitis and had it removed
early this morning. So we went to visit him and while we were waiting
to be able to go in I went to the bathroom and the hot water actually
worked!!! WOW!! It was such a treat! The Elder is doing good though!
He should recover just fine! It`s pretty exciting to be companions
with the nurse! Every friday we have to go into the offices because
she as to chart all the phone calls and do other nurse stuff so I get
to go with and help! And one of the senior sisters brings us some kind
of homemade bread every friday and it is so yummy! My favorite is her
Mora (blackberry) bread! I`m gonna have to remember to get the recipe
from her! So yeah there are many perks and I am getting very spoiled
here in Quito. I`m sure my next transfer is going to be a rude
awakening! haha
Well this week has been good! We have been finding lots of great
people to teach and they are good about reading and are so excited
about the gospel but then comes Sunday...... Something always happens
on Sunday and no one can make it to church. We had a member go pick up
one of the famillies and when she got there the dad was drunk. And his
wife came out and was like we are Catholic and we don`t want to change
religions because we can`t dance or drink and we just don`t want to
keep the rules of your church. Yeah we were pretty sad and shocked
because this is our best family! They were building such strong
testimonies and reading and doing everything they were supposed to.
But we are going to see them tonight so we will see how it goes!
Veronica couldn´t come because her little girl was sick. She is still
unsure of which path to take because she is studying with the
Jehovah`s Witness` also, and I`m sure it doesn`t help that her Mother
is probably preaching to her all the time! That woman is so just loud
and preachy and it`s amazing the difference! When she comes in and
starts talking about her church the Spirit is just not there and it`s
so frustrating trying to teach with her there preaching at us! She is
working on getting us pamphlets in English so we can read and
understand about their church! Can`t wait!! haha We found Heidi last
week and she is so great! She is 20 years old and she has and 8 month
old baby who is the cutest thing ever! She also has a little girl who
is about 4 but she lives with the grandma because the guy Heidi is
living with doesn`t want the little girl to live with them because she
isn`t his. Yeah we have never met his but he sounds not very nice and
she knows he isn`t very good for her but she is just with him because
of the little boy. So we have to do something about that before she
can get baptized. But she reads all the time and loves learning about
the gospel so we are just praying something will work out to get her
away from the boyfriend.
Well Bubs your Eagle Project looks amazing! Of course with dad nothing
is done half way! I`m so proud of you for finishing!! You will be so
glad you did it!!
It sounds like life is just crazy at home but everyone sounds well and
healthy! I hope this year is starting out well for everyone! Thank you
for all the prayers and support! They are being heard! I love you
all!! xoxoxXo
Love forever and always,
Hermana Nelson
